Through the international exchange of knowledge and experience in heritage conservation and management, the work of AusHeritage has contributed to the development of strong connections between Australia and Taiwan.

‘There is room for every state in India to have at least a 100 museums,’ says Vinod Daniel, AusHeritage Chairperson in an interview by The Hindu.

The collaboration between AusHeritage and the Department of Archaeology and National Museum of Myanmar has resulted in two workshops on collection conservation and management.

A workshop on collections conservation and management was inaugurated today at the National Museum, Nay Pyi Taw. The three day workshop is being held from January 30, 2017 to February 1, 2017 and is a collaboration between AusHeritage (Australia’s International Cultural Heritage Network) and the Department of Archaeology and National Museum.

Vinod Daniel, chairman of the board for AusHeritage and a board member of the International Council of Museums, was interviewed by the Times of India newspaper while in India recently to conduct a workshop for museum curators.

The Chairman of AusHeritage Mr Vinod Daniel recently visited Sri Lanka and was interviewed by the Daily News, Sri Lanka on 13 December 2016, in regard to making museums more interactive.

AusHeritage was established in 1996 to facilitate the engagement of practitioners and organisations for the Australian heritage industry in the overseas arena and is the only nationally based, multi-disciplinary cultural heritage organisation in Australia.

AusHeritage chairperson, Vinod Daniel, discusses six major challenges facing museums in India. These challenges include appointing a permanent director; be given a degree of autonomy; upgrading the staff selection process; make museums more attractive for audiences; prioritise the collection; and bring intangible aspects to the fold.

The 2016 AusHeritage lecture and workshop program on Taiwan’s Kinmen Island was held between 21 to 24 June, 2016. Participants came from public sector organisations (both national and local government), universities, the private sector (essentially local SMEs), interested citizens and
students.
