The Next 50 Years: Challenges and Opportunities for World Heritage

Along with the Asian Academy for Heritage Management Secretariat at Southeast University, and the Beijing Cultural Relics Protection Association, UNESCO cordially extends to the public an invitation to join the international symposium, ‘The Next 50 Years: Challenges and Opportunities for World Heritage’, on 26-27 November 2022.

Bringing together leading academics and practitioners to reflect on key challenges and opportunities for cultural heritage and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region, the symposium provides a timely opportunity to reflect on the 50th Anniversary of the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage (1972 Convention), and two decades of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

This symposium is co-organized by the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau and the People’s Government of Fangshan District under the generous sponsorship of the Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation.

The event is co-hosted by the Fangshan District Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Zhoukoudian Site Museum and the School of Architecture of Southeast University.
