Officially established in March 2019, the UNESCO Chair on Intangible Cultural Heritage and Comparative Law is located in the Department of Digital Law and Society at Sapienza University of Rome Unitelma.

The Chair works in the fields of comparative public law, international law, and cultural anthropology, and represents a step in a decade-long commitment by the University to the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

To celebrate twenty years after the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage the question has been asked: how has the protection of cultural heritage changed?

To answer this the UNESCO Chair has produced a series of 20 virtual dialogues, each about 30 minutes long, to verify the impact of the UNESCO Convention on intangible cultural heritage in 19 different countries. The dialogues, in English and French, can be viewed online.
