Australian Cultural Heritage Champion Vinod Daniel, to receive Indo- Australian Award for 2009.
Vinod Daniel, Chairman, AusHeritage and Branch Head, Australian Museum, will receive the Indo-Australian Award for 2009 at the Silver Jubilee function of the Indo-Australian Association in Chennai on November 18, 2009. The annual award is given to an individual who has contributed substantially to the bilateral relationship between Australia and India.

The INTACH-AusHeritage symposium in New Delhi, in April 2007, was not only to exchange ideas, concepts and practical conservation knowledge, and to reinforce an understanding of the the imperatives for conservation of our cultural heritages, but also it provided an opportuntity to review the application of the “Charter for the Conservation of Unprotected Architetural Heritage and Sites in India”.
Later this month, guardians of the world’s cultural treasures will meet in Salzburg, Austria, to explore global themes related to conservation and preservation and develop recommendations for protecting collections around the world.

New Delhi, Oct 8 (IANS) The tropical climate, which encourages insects, is a big stumbling block in the conservation of Kerala’s tangible cultural heritage, says a prominent Australian conservationist of Indian origin who is against the use of chemicals to kills pests in museums.
“Places like Kerala are rich in culture but do not have the necessary expertise to preserve it,” Vinod Daniel, a native of Chennai who is chairman of AusHeritage, told IANS here.
