AusHeritage Chairman Vinod Daniel, has taken on the conservation of an Egyptian mummy located in Hyderabad, India. The mummy, known as ‘Nasihu’, dates to 2,500BC. A thorough medical examination has found the mummy to be in good condition and a scan revealed it to be a woman of about 25 years and not 16 to 18 years as was originally believed, with a height of 136 cm.
It had previously thought the mummy, among six in the country, was decaying and needed urgent chemical and other treatment.

“The mummy underwent a thorough medical examination and chemical treatment. Doctors certified its condition as good. It has been brought back to the museum for visitors,” said tourism secretary Mr B. Venkatesam.
