About this member

Mark Hodkinson Pty Ltd Consulting Structural Engineers was formed in 1992 and has consulted on over three thousand structural engineering projects since its inception. The Practice specialises in the structural assessment, stabilisation, remediation, restoration and redevelopment of historic buildings and structures. The Practice’s Clients have included the Parliament of Victoria, VicTRACK, VLINE, The Royal Exhibition Building, The Melbourne Club, Government House, Heritage Victoria, The University of Melbourne, The National Trust, Victorian Government, Museum Victoria, various Municipalities, Schools and Churches, etc. Projects that the practice has provided consulting structural engineering services for include the redevelopment and restoration of the 1888 Building and the construction of a new three storey building with basement for the School of Graduate Studies, University of Melbourne; many historic Railway Stations; many projects at Parliament House Melbourne since 1998 including the construction of the Usher of the Black Rod’s addition, a compactus building, the gate house, the security fences, works to the Council Chamber, the structural aspects of the stonework restoration, an investigation of the roof structures of the Legislative Assembly Chamber and Legislative Council Chamber, etc; the redevelopment and restoration of No 3 Treasury Place; alterations and restoration of the Princess Theatre; a structural assessment of the roof structure and the remedial works to the floor structures of the Royal Exhibition Building; alterations to the C1905 John Monash designed warehouse in Oliver Lane; the stabilisation of the Grottos at the Rippon Lea Estate; the restoration of St Michael’s Uniting Church including the jacking of the timber spire to plumb; a structural assessment and investigation of the Monier Concrete Arch Bridge at Fyansford; the relocation and remediation of a World War 2 former RAAF timber hangar at Werribee; a number of prefabricated houses; the load testing of the gallery cast iron brackets at The Old Melbourne Gaol; the investigation and stabilisation of the Murtoa ‘Stick Shed’; the underpinning and ‘jacking up’ of a 21 m high 1880’s ‘leaning’ clock tower at the Newport Railway Workshops; inspections and works at Government House; the restoration of the John Kelly House (Ned Kelly’s father); a report on Captain Cook’s Cottage; et al.
