FREE PUBLIC LECTURE: Wisdom and Compassion in a Changing World – Australia India and Tibet

The Australia India Institute is pleased to host a lecture with Ven. Geshe Lhakdor, Director of the Library of Tibetan Works & Archives (LTWA) in Dharamshala, India; one of the world’s leading institutions dedicated to preserving Tibetan language, culture, manuscripts, and intellectual traditions.

In this lecture, ‘Wisdom and Compassion in a Changing World: Australia, India and Tibet’, Geshe Lhakdor will share reflections on Tibetan knowledge traditions, the importance of cultural preservation, and the role of compassion in today’s world, acknowledging the Year of Compassion which marks His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday.

This event offers a valuable opportunity to explore the cultural and intellectual connections between Australia, India, and Tibet and forms part of the Director’s Australian tour organised in partnership with ALTWA, the Australian Library of Tibetan Works & Archives.

Geshe Lhakdor is a respected scholar and educator whose work spans India and the global community through his leadership of LTWA, one of the foremost institutions dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan language, culture, manuscripts, and intellectual heritage. In recognition of its role in safeguarding important textual traditions, the Library was appointed in 2006 by India’s National Manuscripts Mission as one of its National Manuscripts Resource Centres.
